Meet the young Haider - Anshuman Malhotra

Anshuman Malhotra
Shahid Kapoor starrer, Haider that is all set to release tomorrow (2 October) is already in much talks for its brilliant performances, music and cinematography. Now many would not know that the role of the young Shahid has been essayed by the cute Anshuman Malhotra who is raving great response as Dodo in Channel V’s Yeh Jawani Ta Ra Ri Ri. Interestingly Haider is Anshuman’s first project and he shares that working with Vishal Bhardwaj was like a dream come true for him. “It was the first time I was facing the camera and was really nervous. He is one director who is very sorted and knows what he wants from an actor. And imagine the kind of intelligence he has- directing, writing and even giving the music for the film. It was the best time of my life shooting with him.” Talking about his first scene, the young actor quips, “Early in the morning in Kashmir I had my first scene with Tabu maam. I was so very nervous and seeing her perform in front of me gave me goose bumps. I also got to spend time with Narendra Jha and K K Menon who have done a brilliant job in the film.” Anshuman will be seen in Shahid’s flashbacks when he will return home after his education. The changes in his home will make him reminisce about his good old times. “It is not a very lengthy role but yes, I am there in some really good scenes (smiles). Being a newcomer I couldn’t have asked for more. I met Rekha maam (Bhardwaj) who told me that I should continue with my work.” The actor also saw the film last night at the special screening. “I am not saying this because I am part of the film, but Vishal sir has done a fabulous job. It’s completely in a different level. I think Kashmir has never been shown this beautifully or will ever be seen. Also the DOP Pankaj Kumar has been brilliant. The picturisation is so alive that you feel you are watching a 3D film. And hats off to all actors for their fantastic performances.”
