The best genre for learning is always a 'period drama' - Abhi Thakur

Abhi Thakur
Actor Abhi Thakur specializes in mythological and historical roles, and there is no doubt about it. The man who started his career in the year 2003 as a model with Gladrags has gone on to play many diverse period characters with great ease and élan. Talk to him, and he will give you the exact reason for him trying his hand at such roles. “I want to do movies, and that is my ultimate goal. I believe that once you have a great platform in acting, you will have an easier road to success. And the best genre for learning is historical and mythological shows. They provide you with a lot of scope for acting, and I simply love being part of them.” Abhi has been part of Ramayan on Imagine, Dharti Ka Veer Yodha – Prithviraj Chauhan, Dharamveer and many more. Presently he is seen essaying the role of Raja Rudr Pratap Singh in Sony PAL’s show, Singhasan Battisi, produced by Creative Eye Ltd. Talking about his role in Singhasan, the man states, “I play a very sincere Raja, who is married to Rageshwari (Umang Yadav). The couple are a tad bit unhappy as they do not have a kid. When the Rani goes into the jungle to perform a particular yagna for child birth, she gets abducted and that is when the King gets angry. He actually suspects one of his soldiers for kidnapping the Rani. This is when he seeks the help of King Vikramaditya (Karan Suchak). My track is presently on air, and I have been receiving good feedback for my performance.” The man who hails from Madhya Pradesh has also done a documentary film along with good friend Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee titled ‘Nayi Chethna’. “It is always great to work with Gurmeet. We had earlier worked together for Ramayan, where I played the role of Agni Dev. We bonded very well for Nayi Chethna too.” Looking forward, Abhi sees a good future for himself in movies and is slowly but steadily working towards it. “Yes, my ultimate target would be movies. But I need to have a strong acting base for it, and the progress is surely on.” Wish you luck, Abhi!!
