Money.
That's what drives everyone in the final analysis,
whether in the glamour world of acting or
the hard grind of scripting and producing.
Cashin' In sits down with TV celebs to know
well they handle their financial matters,
and tracks their spending patterns.
Household
beloved Mona Singh of Jassi Jaisi Koi
Nahin believes in neither being a miser
nor a spendthrift. Mona, who already owns
an Accent, recently purchased a white Honda
City. She talks to Riya
V Anandwala about how she handles
her money!
So firstly how
do you pedal your money?
As I am so busy with my profession, my dad
handles my money along with my C.A. But
definitely he keeps me updated with whatever
is happening.
Do you believe
in making investments?
Oh yes! Investing is very important. My
dad invests in everything, PPF, bonds, insurance
policies and he loves investing in mutual
funds.
Have you invested
in any property as of now?
Yes, I recently bought a flat in Lokhandwala
in suburban Mumbai. The prices have doubled
now.
How do you plan
your life financially?
I believe that no actor has a permanent
inflow of income. So in that case, one should
smartly invest and in such a way that he
gets an interest of a lakh every month.
The day I achieve that return, I will be
very contented.
Are you an impulsive
buyer?
No, not at all, I think twice before buying
anything.
What do you mostly
buy?
I love wearing good stuff and also like
to look good; I buy a lot of clothes, bags
and perfumes like any other girl does (laughs).
Being an actor,
are you very look conscious and hence end
up spending loads on your outlook?
The worst thing for actors is that we never
get a chance to wear what we buy. Mostly
we are shooting, other than that we are
performing in concerts, so all we get to
wear is a night suit!
Do you have a
car? Is it on a loan?
I own an Accent and have ordered for a Honda
City, and both are not on a loan. My house
is on a loan.
How do you plan
your loan?
It is very well done. Normally a loan is
equivalent to a burden, but my EMI is so
well planned by my dad that it is not a
load on me; I can very well adjust my lifestyle
according to the loan.
How are you by
nature when it comes to finances?
I am not at all a miser, I have only one
life and I would love to enjoy to the fullest.
And nor am I a spendthrift. Basically, I
spend only when the need arises. I don't
spend for the heck of it.
Are you a self
made woman or live on you family's money?
I am totally a self made woman! I have been
earning from past ten years now.
Do you bank on
any other profession other than acting?
Well, I plan to work on my life. I am interested
in fashion designing, so some day I would
love to open a boutique and I am a very
good cook, so I might just open a restaurant
you see (laughs).
Do you invest
in share business?
No, never. It is my hard earned money; I
will not like to risk it.
Do you invest
in gold?
I am not a 'gold' person. I love diamonds,
so I invest in them.
