In the corporate world, he was Global XBRL Leader at consulting firm KPMG and a Founding Member of the XBRL International Steering Committee -- a technology standard which Accounting Today called "perhaps the most revolutionary change in financial reporting since the first general ledger.".
Was heavily involved in the formation of digital media standards, including XBRL, NewsML, PRISM and MPEG, and was the initial U.S. Chair of MPEG-21.
At one time served on the Board of the School of General Studies Alumni Association at Columbia University and was Chair of the International Advisory Committee for Virtual Communications at the School of Creative Media at RMIT University (Melbourne).
