It seems psychiatrists are finding a good career option in television serials! Uma Shankar (Yudhisthir in Kahani Hamarey Mahabharat Key) and Manav Vij being the latest examples. While the former left a roaring practice in psychiatry in Mumbai to follow his heart and take up a career in acting, the latter counsels his colleagues in the industry informally.

Ask Uma Shankar about why he joined television and quit his practice in psychiatry and he responds, "I have always been interested in acting. In fact, after completing a course in acting from the National School of Drama I came to Mumbai in 2001 to make a career in acting. Since nothing much happened on that front, I had to fall back on my clinical psychology degree to make two ends meet. But now when I got this offer of playing Yudhisthir, I just could not resist myself!"
