BdaySpecial: 5 un-KJo plots Karan Johar should attempt

Karan Johar

He’s the ultimate sass master of Bollywood. Whether you love his witty tweets, charming hosting skills or his unmatched humour, you’re definitely team Karan Johar or KJo. As her ushers in another madcap year, we take a look at five of the most un-KJo movie slots he can direct…read on:

A rustic love saga: His love stories are saccharine sweet, larger than life and filmy. But maybe he can change things up a bit by indulging in a rustic love saga. No grand sets, no flawless makeup and certainly no cameos by SRK, Rani and Kajol. It would be a setting on the lines of Marathi blockbuster Sairat, but with a happy ending. Say what, folks?

Psychological thrillers: We know that his expertise lies in romance. But he can definitely deliver a psychological flick too. After all, the treatment of his segment from Bombay Talkies made us all sit up and take notice.

Song-less drama: We can already hear Karan gasping at this suggestion. A KJo movie without foot-tapping music? How’s that even possible? Well, now is the time to try it out and prove his critics wrong.

Heroine-oriented movie: Even though his heroines are feisty, bold and stunningly beautiful, they sometime get slotted as mere props. Not to take away from KJo though because he has given as the bindaas Anjali from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the rebellious Maya and Rhea from KANK, and so on. But we are dying for a full-fledged movie with the heroine as the only shining star.

A mature love story: If he digs romance so much, a mature love story is the perfect way to show off his incredible directorial skills. Because why should youngsters have all the fun, eh?
