Why Bollywood Loves Making Sequels

Bollywood's love for sequel is legendary. Whether it's a popular franchise that's rebooted year after year, or sequels of potboilers churned out annually, this genre is a clear favorite with both directors and audiences.

We take a look at some of the reasons why Bollywood loves making sequels...read on.

Relating to the character:

By being familiar with a character, you tend to relate more with it. Chulbul is a hit because we know how he works and what his traits are. Perhaps that's why the Dabangg series is a massive hit with us. It also helps us understand the nuances of a character better. Even when the principal characters are changed, you can relate with the new add-ons, thanks to the previous installments.

Character arcs:

There's more time to develop the characters and their arcs. It gives the director time to introduce plots that enhance the lead and make the story better. Even as viewers, we love watching a character grow as we know what happened in the previous movie and what we can expect in this version. It's damn exciting, don't you think?

Anticipation:

One of the reasons we throng the theatres for sequels is the anticipation. We have seen what the original has to offer and now we are curious to know what the sequel will have in store for us. Directors play on our anticipation and churn out movies to cater to our needs. It's definitely a win-win for both the parties, eh?

Easier to bring the audiences to the halls:

It's so much easier to entice the audiences to the halls as we are already familiar with the storyline and plot. We love the Singhams and Dabanggs for this reason only! Next time a sequel is announced, think of these reasons.

These were our reasons. What are yours? Do let us know in the comment section below.
