I am a complete director's actor: Nusrat Jahan

Nusrat Jahan

Nusrat Jahan, who has been part of movies like Shotru and Khoka 420, will be seen in a completely different avatar in Har Har Byomkesh directed by Arindam Sil. The film which is based on Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s Byomkesh Bakshi is produced jointly by Shree Venkatesh Films and Surinder Films. In a telephonic interview with Tellychakkar.com, the actress talks about the character that she is portraying.

Excerpts from the interview:

You have shared a glimpse of your upcoming Bengali movie ‘Har Har Byomkesh’ on Twitter and Facebook which has garnered more than 24K likes. Your fans are going gaga over your new look. Your comment?

Initially, I was hesitant about my look as I have never tried such attire before but everybody assured me. And once I begun shooting for the movie, I started receiving appreciation from everyone. I have started loving my new look.

So, how does it feel to have bagged the role of Shakuntala?

I am glad that I got this opportunity to essay the role of Shakuntala. This role has given me a scope to showcase my acting prowess. It has lots of potential.

How much do you feel connected to your character of Shakuntala in the movie?

We are totally two different individuals. She is a very graceful lady. She does not wear shakha-pola and vermillion. There is a charm and elegance in her personality. She is reserved and I am the opposite. I am trying to get into the skin of the character.

Are you doing anything special for it? Do you think that you will be able to do justice to the role of Shakuntala?

No, I am not doing anything special but yes I have read the book. Rest, I have left upon my director, Arindam Sil. He is a fantastic director who knows how to extract the best from his actors. Moreover, I am a complete director’s actor. And yes, I think I will be able to do justice to my character. But I am waiting for audience’s verdict which I will get only after the release.

Considering your background of a commercial heroine, how does it feel to be a part of such a venture?

See, as an actor we should not differentiate between a commercial and an offbeat movie. According to me, a commercial movie is one which makes really impressive money. It definitely feels good to be a part of such a venture. It is a movie which can be watched and enjoyed by people of all ages. The movie is set in 1940s and thus gives an essence of a different era. Once we are done packing, it feels like we have come back to our own world.

Now that you have started exploring your acting skills so do you have any wish list of directors?

No, I have not prepared any wish list. I want to work with different kinds of directors.
