The tall, fair and handsome actor Abir Chatterjee says that social media is one of the finest mediums to receive direct feedback from the audiences, which helps an actor to better his performances in future.

“Social media is very popular now. We need to encash the social networking sites (like Facebook and Twitter) to promote our films and get the feedback of our audience,” said the actor to Tellychakkar.com, who was present at Social Krira, an event held in Kolkata to spread awareness about social media and its utility.

He added saying, “I feel such sites are especially important for us (films actors) who unlike the stage actors cannot interact directly with the audiences. I also feel the biggest plus point the stage actors have is that they can feel the pulse of the audiences while performing, but we cannot. So, such sites help us to get the required information like what kind of stories they want to see on big screens, what kind of acting they like, etc.”

The Byomkesh Bakshi and Jomer Raja Dilo Bor famed actor believes that half of the marketing of films depends on social media.

He opined, “In today’s time I must say that 50 percent of your job is done when you make a film and the rest 50 percent depends on how you place it to the audience. The medium not only helps in promoting the film but also makes the people aware of the subject; its aim, its USP etc.”

Social media is a platform where an actor can get both positive and negative feedback. So when quizzed how he deals with negativity, he quipped, “Thankfully, there is not much of negativity. I do receive some really intelligent criticisms. I was quite surprised to see that a part of audience analysed my film in a way which I haven't. Such criticisms basically help me to grow as an actor.”

“Moreover, it is my responsibility to filter the messages like what to take in and what to throw out,” he added with a smile.

The Bong actor also expressed that there is a section of people who are yet to realize social media's potential.

He humorously said, “There is still a section of people who would give you a suspicious look the moment you talk about social media. To them, the image of social media is yet to be cleared out. They have a conception that it is the den of indulging into all the naughty stuffs.”

“Social media is beyond all these. We have to see that how we can utilize it for a better cause. We have to see that how new ideas can be generated to help the young generation to grow and perform better,” he signed off.
