Honored to speak at World Hindu Congress: Anupam Kher

Actor Anupam Kher says it was a big achievement for him -- a lower middle class Kashmiri Pandit boy from Shimla -- to speak at the World Hindu Congress here.

He gave a speech here on Friday.

I am humbled and honoured to be part of the World Hindu Congress ceremony. It was a very big achievement for a lower middle class Kashmiri Pandit boy from Shimla to speak at the World Hindu Congress, Chicago, America," Anupam said in a statement.

I take this opportunity to salute my motherland, our wondrous land of over 1.3 billion people, the place that has been mother to all religions and faith, cultural practices, beliefs and customs. Hinduism is a way of life. You become a Hindu by living like one," he added.

On the work front, he is part of the American medical drama New Amsterdam.

Patralekhaa to play Bengali girl in Pradeep Sarkar's film

City Lights actress Patralekhaa is excited about playing a Bengali girl in Arranged Marriage, a short film directed by Pradeep Sarkar as part of an anthology.

"I am doing this short film for a bigger picture, which has got four stories. It's an anthology film with Pradeep Sarkar. I am playing the role of a Bengali girl in the movie, which is set in Kolkata," Patralekhaa told a publication.

The film will also be shot in Kolkata.

"We will start shooting it this month-end, and it's a 10-15 days' shoot," the actress added.

Meanwhile, Sarkar's forthcoming movie is Helicopter Eela, which features Kajol in the lead role as an aspiring singer and single mother.

I've grown as an actor: Huma Qureshi

Huma Qureshi, who has played powerful roles in films like Gangs of Wasseypur and D-Day, believes that she has grown as an actor.

"I believe I've grown as an actor because that happens with the practice and the experience. As a person, I'm a lot calmer and take every release Friday as it comes," Huma told a leading publication.

She said that as an actor, it's important to dabble in a variety of genres.

That helps you get better with your craft. It has never been a conscious decision to gravitate towards these roles. For me, it's the script and the filmmaker that are deciding factors," said the actress, who has collaborated with online fashion destination KOOVS.com for the brand's Autumn Winter 18 collection.

The actress looks boho chic as she is styled in brand's latest HUMA X KOOVS line.

She is seen sporting everything from printed dresses to dhoti pants to high low dresses highlighting the best in fusion wear and her love for Bohemian wear.

Asked if she is an online shopper, the actress said, "Most definitely, especially since my work leaves me very little time to actually visit stores and shop. The online platform makes it much more convenient."
