Censor Board bans Udta Punjab

One of the most anticipated movies of this year, Udta Punjab, might not hit the screens.

Because Censor Board has put a ban on the movie's release, due to the various cuss words being used by the lead characters.

The movie juxtaposes the lives of four people- a druggie rockstar, a substance-abusing migrant worker, a diligent cop and a straight-shooting doctor. When their paths cross, all hell breaks loose. With Drugs Di Maa Di as its catchphrase, the movie was all set to revolutionise the way youngsters perceive drugs.

But, no! Because the Board that let movies like Mastizaade, KLPD, Hate Story 3, and so on, refused to let this socially-relevant movie see the light of the day.

Director Abhishek Choubey said to a leading news site, "I would insist with the board to give us an ‘Adult’ certificate. This film has been made for people above a certain age group. This film is adult so we should get an adult certificate."

According to the news site, the Central Board of Film Certification has demanded over 40 cuts in the movie, including cuss words, a song and scenes dealing with substance-abuse.
