Chorabali is not based on any particular novel: Shubhrajit Mitra

There was buzz in certain section of media about Shubhrajit Mitra's upcoming suspense thriller ‘Chorabali’ being based on Sharadindu Bandopadhyay’s novel by the same name. But the director cleared the air saying that the flick is not based on the said novel. “People are assuming that the movie is based on a particular author’s work. But it is not the truth. It is an original story and the script has been written by Abhra Chakraborty, Amitava Bhattacharya and me,” the director said to Tellychakkar.com at the trailer and music launch of the film at a city hotel. He further added, “The story is inspired from various western classical thriller novels like Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie and James Bond to name a few.” When quizzed will the Bengali audience be able to connect with the flick, the director quipped, “Although we have taken inspiration from western classics but viewers would find local flavour here. People usually like to watch thrillers and I feel they will like this one as well.” The cast of the film includes Barun Chandra, Tanusree Chakraborty, June Malia, Locket Chatterjee, Tathagata Bandopadhay, Shataf Figar, Malabika Banerjee, Sayani Dutta, George Baker and Mou Baidya. Produced by Pradip Churiwal, Macneill, the film is slated to release on January 22.
