Here are the fresh and new happenings from the world of Hollywood.

Kanye West to meet Trump

Rapper Kanye West, who is a supporter of US President Donald Trump, is expected to meet with him and his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner on Thursday.

According to the New York Times, West will first meet with Kushner and then have lunch with the President.

West is meeting with Kushner and Trump to discuss similar issues, as Kushner has been tasked with overseeing criminal justice reform for the White House.

The meeting will not be West's first with the President, as the two came face-to-face in a much-publicized meeting in Trump Tower in 2016 during the presidential transition.

Earlier, the "Lift Yourself" hitmaker has come under fire over the past two years for his pro-Trump stances.

West's meeting follows that of his wife Kim Kardashian West in May. It resulted in the release of 63-year-old Alice Marie Johnson, who was sentenced to life in prison in 1996 for a first-time non-violent drug offense, as per media reports.

'BrightBurn' postponed to May 2019

James Gunn's horror project BrightBurn, which was scheduled to release on 30 November, will now release on 24 May 2019.

Sony announced the title and change in release date of the film on Monday, reports suggest so.

BrightBurn will feature actors Elizabeth Banks, Jackson Dunn, David Denman, Meredith Hagner and Matt Jones.

Penned by his brother Brian and cousin Mark, the film is being helmed by David Yarovesky.

James had been set to appear on a panel to discuss the project at San Diego Comic-Con in July, but his appearance was cancelled after news broke that Disney had fired him as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 due to offensive tweets.

Jessica Biel to star in 'Limetown'

Actress Jessica Biel will star in Limetown, based on the fictional podcast of the same name.

Facebook Watch has given a go ahead to the 10-episode mystery thriller, reports suggest so.

Biel will star as Lia Haddock, a journalist for the American Public Radio who seeks to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of more than 300 people at a neuroscience research facility in Tennessee.

The series, which hails from Endeavor Content, is being written and executive produced by Limetown creators Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie.

Biel will executive produce via her Iron Ocean Productions banner alongside Michelle Purple.

Akers and Bronkie, the founders of podcast studio Two Up Productions, released the first season of Limetown in July 2015. The second season will be out on 31 October.

Jim Carrey, Emilia Clarke to get Britannia Awards

Actors Jim Carrey and Emilia Clarke have been selected as recipients of the Britannia Awards from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Los Angeles.

Carrey will receive the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy, while Clarke will receive the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year, reports suggest so.

The trophies will be presented at ceremonies on 26 October at the Beverly Hilton Hotel here.

"Jim and Emilia are without question two incredibly inspiring and remarkable talents and we are delighted to be honouring them at this year's ceremony," said BAFTA Los Angeles chairman Kieran Breen.

"Jim is a legend in the industry, bringing joy and laughter to audiences around the world through his unique award-winning performances. Emilia is a force to be reckoned with and has brought us one of the most beloved female characters in TV history."

Carrey currently stars in and executive produces series Kidding. And Clarke recently wrapped filming the eighth and final season of the HBO series Game of Thrones, which is aired in India on Star World.

Dakota Johnson not pregnant, says representative

Actress Dakota Johnson is not expecting her first child with boyfriend and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, said her representative.

The representative dismissed the rumours of the pregnancy after it was reported that the couple threw a gender reveal party at Martin's home on Sunday, reports suggest so.

The festivity was complete with pink and blue balloons. The guest list included names like Johnson's parents, Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, Sean Penn, Julia Roberts and Jeremy Allen White.

According to her representative, Johnson was celebrating her birthday, which was on 4 October, at Martin's house.

Johnson and Martin have been dating for a year.

Martin was previously married to actress Gwyneth Paltrow for 10 years before splitting in 2014 and was linked to actress Annabelle Wallis in 2015. Johnson previously had an off-on relationship with model Matthew Hitt.

Taylor Swift's political colour irks Trump

US President Donald Trump has told reporters that he likes Taylor Swift’s music "about 25 per cent less now" that she endorsed a Democrat in a Senate race in Tennessee.

Swift on Sunday showed her political stripes in a post on Instagram in which she said she would be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate, reports variety.com.

She wrote of the hotly contested Senate race that "as much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me." Blackburn is Bredesen's Republican opponent.

"I'm sure Taylor Swift doesn't know anything about her," Trump said on Monday. "Let's say that I like Taylor's music about 25 per cent less now."

Swift wrote that Blackburn "voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorisation of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape.

"She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values."

The National Republican Senate Committee issued a press release dismissing Swift's endorsement. "If you haven't heard, multimillionaire pop star Taylor Swift came down from her ivory tower to tell hardworking Tennesseans to vote for Phil Bredesen," the committee said.

Bredesen's campaign sent out a series of tweets on the endorsement.

".@VoteMarsha, look what you made her do. @taylorswift13 doesn't like your little games and she wants Tennesseans to know that you've been in the swamp long enough. It's time for some fresh air up in Washington," they tweeted.

Gary Barlow opens up on weight loss battle

Singer Gary Barlow has revealed he did not leave his house for about six months after his weight rose to 109 kg.

During his appearance on the Lorraine TV show, Barlow said he "was trying to kill off the popstar" in him amidst his weight issues and rivalry with former bandmate Robbie Williams, reports suggest so.

He said, "Nine years (I stopped singing). Just turned my back on it. I was trying to kill off the popstar, that's what I was doing.

"I was eating away what a popstar looked like. I was just killing him off. Stopped dying the hair, stopped buying nice clothes, just wanted to look the opposite, physically and mentally."

Years later, the "Back for good" hitmaker managed to shed the weight, after meeting diet gurus Melissa and Jasmine Hemsley.

"It was the day when I just went, 'No, I'm not having this anymore, I'm going to change. I want to change and I'm determined that this is not who I've become.'

"It only took a few years to get that low, but it took me years to get back to who I wanted to be. 10 years probably," he added.

Absolutely awesome: Stephen Amell on Batwoman joining Arrowverse

Actor Stephen Amell, who stars as Oliver Queen in the superhero vigilante show Arrow, says it's "absolutely awesome" to have the iconic character Batwoman in the Arrowverse.

The crossover between the Arrowverse and Batwoman was announced earlier this year. How long has the crossover been in the works?

"They told me about it two days before the upfronts (event), but it was very exciting. To be honest, I was very thankful that they had me back for the upfronts. They don't always bring back shows that are running because they often want to talk about their new shows.

"To be there and to make that announcement was really, really cool. I think it showed a lot of faith in me and I appreciate it," Amell said in a statement to a leading publication.

How does it feel to have Batwoman join the Arrowverse?

"It's absolutely awesome. I don't think this character has ever been done in a live-action project, right? That's fantastic. I hope it's great. I'm really glad that they're doing a show with the character. I hope it works out.

"David Rappaport nailed the casting with Grant (Gustin in 'The Flash') and Melissa (Benoist in 'Supergirl'). Me? Maybe! But I'm sure he has nailed the casting with Batwoman, too. It's going to be fantastic."

When Oliver finally gets out of prison, what are his thoughts on him meeting Batwoman?

"Wait… Oliver is getting out of prison?"

Maybe.

"I don't know anything about that. Hopefully, he'll be out of prison to interact with Batwoman. That's a spoiler, right? Well, I'm very excited. I'm also very excited that they are considering doing a series with the character. I think that's amazing," he said.

"Oliver's interaction with Batwoman in the crossover is not the interaction that I'm most interested in. Then again, he has to get out of prison first."

Arrow is aired on Colors Infinity in India.

Whitaker's 'Doctor Who' first episode reaches 9 mn viewers

The inaugural episode of the eleventh series of Doctor Who, which stars Jodie Whittaker as the first ever female lead in the show, received a promising response from the audience, garnering an aggregated reach of 8.2 million viewers, and a peak of 9 million.

The episode had a 40.1 per cent audience share for the BBC in the UK and saw glimpses of new guest stars who will appear throughout the ten-episode run, reports suggest so.

If compared to previous seasons, Peter Capaldi's series opener won 6.8 million viewers, while Matt Smith's first episode won 7.7 million, and David Tennant's series opener got 8 million.

There were also glimpses of The Woman in Black actor Shaun Dooley, Susan Lynch and Art Malik in the first episode.
