Actor Shaheb Bhattacherjee, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Romantic Noy, says that he partially connects with his character in the said film.   

About the film and his character in it, Shaheb said to Tellychakkar.com, “It’s a story of another common guy from the suburbs who wants to come to the city to make it big, to earn big and to have a very good life here. He comes to the city thinking that it’s going to be the city of dreams and Kolkata is going to be the city of joy… but soon things change and it’s not so joyous for him anymore.”

“So, it’s basically a journey of a guy from light to darkness, where the darkness is in the city. We have showed the different sides of Kolkata in the film. And the story is all about this guy’s journey from light to darkness,” he added.

When quizzed why the name of the film is Romantic Noy (Not Romantic), he explained, “The name is Romantic Noy in spite of having so many female protagonists in it because in the film you find a lot of love, a lot of intimacy, a lot of closeness but none of them actually have the heart in them.”

“So, there is romance in the film but none of them are actually romantic,” he added.  

Do you feel connected with your character? He replied, “I partially relate to the film. Everybody has a dream and we all live on hope. So, my dream to some extent is related to the film in the sense that I also want to make it big in the industry, and want to be a better actor, a better performer, to be more appreciated by everybody. So, I am chasing the dream.”

“However, the character in the film somewhere had been taken off-track while chasing the dream but I have not done that. I have been very focused and luckily I am on my path,” he added with a smile.

The good looking actor, who has earlier acted in Bengali films like Royal Bengal Rahasya, Gorosthane Sabdhan, Khaad and Bheetu, says that he has many dreams but he hasn’t fulfilled them yet.

On his dreams, he commented, “I haven’t fulfilled any of my dreams. The day they will be fulfilled I probably would settle down and not do anything else.” 

“There are many things that I want to do. I want to do things for my family, cousins and society. I want to do certain things for the people whom I love,” he further added.

Romantic Noy also stars Priyanka Sarkar and June Maliah.  

When asked how was it to work with Priyanka and June, he said, “This is my second film with Priyanka. In the last film (Damadol), she wasn’t cast opposite me. I really appreciate Priyanka as an actress. She is a brilliant actress.”

“She is so spontaneous. Whenever she is acting with me I look at her with awe. She is also a very nice human being. I find her one of the most talented actors in Tollywood at the moment,” he added.

On June, he affectionately shared, “June di is very senior to me. She is like an elder sister to me so I have immense respect for her. I was very happy that I was working with her. The last time when I worked with June di, I was six years old and the film was Lathi. It’s amazing to work with her again,” he added fondly.
