There is a certain air of honesty that surrounds Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez. The former beauty queen is candid enough to admit that she was herself surprised when Sajid Nadiadwala signed her for Kick. "I was actually taken aback when I received a call from Sajid sir. I knew they were looking out for an actress for Kick but never imagined they would finalise me because to be honest I didn't see myself as an A-list actress then. I saw myself as someone who was a part of commercial films and was trying to break into the A-list league. So I was quite surprised when they chose me because I thought they would settle for an A-list actress." Jacqueline today considers herself lucky that she has got a chance to star solo opposite one of India's biggest stars. "There is a trend in Bollywood where filmmakers either sign a new actress or an established one. If you are somewhere in the middle, you are stuck. The films I did at the start of my career didn't do too well. I then did a few multi starrers. Thankfully, now with Kick I have got the biggest solo release of my career." The fact that Sajid & Co have reposed faith in her has only put added pressure on her shoulders. "There is immense pressure because I am in the same screen as that of Salman Khan and I know that I will have to deliver the goods." Though she has broken into the Khan stronghold now, Jacqueline still believes that the response of Kick will determine whether she is an A-List actress or not. "Kick's response and appreciation from the audience will determine my position in the industry." Kick releases on 25 July.
