Sanjay Leela Bhansali can breathe easy for the moment. The Delhi High Court today dismissed a public interest litigation filed by an NGO called Rashtravadi Shiv Sena seeking to ban the release of Ram-Leela.

The plea which was filed by the NGO's president Jai Bhagwan Goyal said that the title `Ram-Leela' which is understood by Hindus as an enactment of the life and story of Lord Ram (Maryada Purshottam), is nowhere doing the same but on the contrary the film is portraying sex, violence and vulgarity, which is deeply hurting the religious sentiments and feelings of Hindus.

The NGO’s plea further added that the enactment, production and scheduled release of the film Ram-Leela is a gross insult to the religious feelings of Hindus. It was also averred in the plea that the objection is only in respect of naming such a film Ram-Leela and not about anything else.

However, the division bench of the Delhi High Court headed by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana, not only refused to entertain the plea but also imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000 on the NGO.

Ram-Leela is all set to be released in India on 15 November (2013). The sizzling chemistry of Ranveer and Deepika has already created a huge buzz for Sanjay Leela Bhasali’s latest magnum opus

what the hell.....this is really the limit....how can they charge fine on the poor ngo for trying to protect the religion. That zeny judge might be an athiest or something because the plea was not at all wrong. The name of the film certainly hurts. Ram-leela is an extremely pure and sacred tradition that has been carried out from generations to enact the lif-story of Lord-ram. It is the teacher of maryada, kartavya, and obedience. I am sure the judge is unaware of the pious feelings behind ram-leel. How can a maker keep a film's name after such a wanderful tradition to show what is exactly opposite to the original. Shame to the makers. Shame to the Judge. Shame to SLB. Why was the release of Vishwaroopam banned then? just because it was opposed by muslim organizations....losers is the word for all of such people. I am surely not watching this movie despite of knowing that it is gonna be a hit because anything that is against hinduism is a hit today and this is the truth. moreover, the songs of the film have already done enough og pain-giving to me.
