For Shreya Narayan, who comes from the lineage of the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, acting and writing go hand in hand. The lady who is an actor, lyricist, author and philanthropist has earlier written lyrics for the Madhuri Dixit – Juhi Chawla starrer Gulaab Gang. She is also presently writing her first book of fiction, and has earlier worked on the Bihar Flood Relief Mission with Prakash Jha during the Kosi river floods. Now, the actress in her will soon be seen yet again, this time sharing screen space with the evergreen actress Rekha in the upcoming movie Super Nani which is slated for release on 24 October (2014). Super Nani is a quirky story about an over-ambitious dysfunctional family, in which Shreya will play the delusional bahu in the family, while Rekha will essay the matriarch. Shreya’s character will be that of a lady who would want to pursue a career in acting. Even though she would not possess any acting attributes, she would dream of becoming a big actor. And the challenge for Shreya in playing the role was to play a non-actor. Says Shreya, “It was a challenge to play a non-actor. But this is what makes the sequences hilarious! The ironic part is that only an actor could play this bad, loud and delusional non-actor. Super Nani is a family drama that deals with issues of a family that has gone off-kilter, and the realisation follows as a beautiful mix of emotions and humour.” Shreya adds further, “The film was shot over a year and a half. During the shoot I was going through an extreme personal crisis. My mother was going through the last stage of cancer and I would leave my mom to go and shoot, to play a humorous character. If ever there was a thing harder to do, it was this, to switch from pain to humour and then come back to reality. This is the only film I worked on during this difficult period, as I had signed it before my mother’s illness was discovered. Inder Sir and Rekhaji supported me like their own during the shoot.
