The day is not far when Rajeev Khandelwal will be called a superstar: Paresh Rawal

After dragging God to court in the flick Oh My God, veteran actor Paresh Rawal is all set to don the role of a dangerous game show host in Table No 21 (directed by Aditya Datt). His bald character challenges honeymoon couple Rajeev Khandelwal and Tena Desae to a game of Rs 21 crores but with one twist, you lie and you die. Adds Rawal, “This story does not have your conventional negative or positive guys formulation, for with passing frame, you don’t know who is really negative, positive or grayish.”

Rawal is confident of the chances of Table No. 21 when it releases on 4 January (2013) “What works in its favour, is its script that is as unique and entertaining as that of Oh My God. The taste of the audience today has changed and they are now accepting good stuff only,” he observes.

With him being around in the industry for the last 17 years, the veteran believes that a golden period in his life is knocking at the door. “The three films that I consider to be my turning points are Arjun, Dacait and Sardar Patel.”

Coming to his co-star Rajeev Khandelwal, Rawal says that it is only a matter of time before he will be called a superstar. “You can judge an actor’s caliber by the way he or she underplays or balances the scene depending on situations in the script,” he maintains.

Rawal would not mind playing such a game in real life for Rs 21 crores because it is a big amount. “On a more serious note, let me tell you that the struggle to earn money has always been there and it will continue to be the same. You should earn your living the hard way lest it becomes dangerous as our film shows,” he explains.

Talking about his creepy look in the promos, he avers, “It was the brain child of the director and styling department. The moment I landed in Fiji, where the film is based, I just surrendered myself to them. They cut my hair and shaved my head and I was ready in two hours,” he concludes.
