Varun Dhawan 'scared' to show Badlapur to his mother

Varun Dhawan is all set to take a different plunge with Sriram Ragahvan's Badlapur. While he has aced playing the chocolate boy-next-door roles, Badlapur see him playing a character with dark shades replete with vengeance of the highest order. Right from his look for the movie to the stunt sequences, Varun will be seen displaying acting chops hitherto unseen from the actor. Needless to say, this is Varun's biggest gamble till date. However, the young actor is super confident. "I am confident that this is a good film. It's a new subject and is good cinematically. You won't find me singing, dancing or jumping because there was no scope for that. But I am sure audience will connect emotionally with this movie and I am hoping that they will like it." Badlapur has also become Varun Dhawan's first A-rated movie and the actor is not disappointed. "I have been saying right from the very beginning that we would happy with whatever certificate the Censor Board gives us. And I don't want to make a big deal out of the A-certificate. The scenes that you will find in the movie are there because of the context present. The kiss is not vulgar or titillating. The violence is also not hardcore." While the scenes may not be extremely violent, Varun is still skeptical when it comes to screening the movie for his family. Shares Varun, "I have not shown the movie to my mother yet. I am a bit scared to show it to her." Varun's father, David Dhawan however has seen and liked Varun's performance. David who had expressed his fears initially when Varun decided to sign the movie is 'happy' with his son's performance after watching the finished product.
