Ali Asgar opts for Bingo instead of Maha Sangram; 'misses' the latter

Looks like Ali Asgar wanted to move away from the image of 'stand-up comic' or how else do you explain his decision to turn down Comedy Circus - Maha Sangram (the show which established his credentials as a stand-up) for a chance to rub shoulders with Abhishek Bachchan on National Bingo Night.

Apparently when Asgar was approached to co-host Bingo with Abhishek Bachchan, the former decided to lap it up as it only meant 'being seen with a big Bollywood star'. But as expected junior Bachchan stole the thunder and Asgar hasn't quite managed to make his presence felt.

Our source informs, "Ali was approached to do Maha Sangram on Sony. But he rejected the offer for Bingo with Abhishek Bachchan thinking it would place him in a different league altogether. Only to realise that with Bachchan Jr at centre-stage, one is hardly left with anything else. In an attempt to undo the damage, he approached Optimystix, the producers of Maha Sangram to take him but they had already lined up the artists and stand-up comedians and he could not be adjusted in the show. What Asgar thought to be his big ticket to unattained stardom has cost him a very good project which is already a hit with the audience."

Asgar said, "I miss being part of Maha Sangram and I don't want to comment on Bingo."

Well, you win some you lose some is all we can say.
