Baby Devi grows up; show takes five year leap

It has just been a month since Shakuntalam's Neer Bhare Tere Naina Devi started and now the show is taking a five year leap where the central character of Laxmi (known as Devi) will be a grown up kid. A source says, "We have started shooting with five-year-old Reem Sheikh who will play Laxmi in the show now. It is her first show and she is doing well. Her entry will air on Monday. After the leap Laxmi's father Ghasita (Hemant Pandey) will be shown as the new Chaudhary of the village. There won't be any trouble makers in the village anymore. The original Chaudhary played by Nimay Bali will be shown paralysed. It is because he ill-treated the villagers, he was meted out this punishment from Laxmi. For a few episodes he will be bed-ridden. The twist in the tale would be when he will be cured and will again start making everyone's life hell. Then he will have to face Laxmi again." Nimay says, "Yes we have started shooting the post-leap sequences. There would be some interesting changes in the show. But I will not be able to tell you many details." Devi is said to be a real story based on real life experiences of various people from rural India. Deepali Pansare and Hemant Pandey will continue to be part of the show as Devi's mother father and no major characters would be introduced as of now.
