Convalescing Kiran takes on extra work

Kiran Karmarkar was recently in the news for not keeping well but the talented actor is back in action to tickle the funny bones in Bhavana Balsavar's new play Merra Naam Joker. Produced and directed by Bhavana's mother Shubha Khote, the play will be a comedy of errors and this will be Kiran's first ever attempt at comedy. The story revolves around a circus and a joker; besides there is a burglar who disguises as a Joker to loot the households. The play also stars Bakul Thakkar, Kranti Redkar, Bhavana Balsavar and Shubha Khote.

The play also stars Bakul Thakkar, Kranti Redkar, Bhavana Balsavar and Shubha Khote. "It's a two and a half hour play and I am there in the entire play. It's a comedy and so different from my character Om or the other characters people might have seen me in so far. In my opinion every actor should try theatre to know acting is all about! Besides, we have had seasoned actors Naseerudin Shah and Paresh Rawal who have got into theatre after movies," says Kiran who was in Singapore recently for a play titled Kachche Dhage. Although a first attempt at comedy, it's not Kiran's first attempt at theatre since Marathi plays were the stepping-stone to Kiran's career. He went on to Balaji Telefilms and bagged serials like Ghar Ek Mandir, Padosan, Kehna Hai Kuch Mujhko and Kahaani Ghar Ghar kii. Idol finalist Amit Sana will also be part of this play. He has sung a song for it. "It was a very nice and unique experience. It was a little difficult for me to sing this particular song, but was completely worth it. We had a lot of fun working together," says Amit Sana. So how did the Indian Idol runner up bag this offer? " Well, fortunately I met Shobhaji in a party and we traded cards, and one day I got a call from her about this." He says the lyrics are very funny and one can visualize that it's meant for stage.
