After a successful season 3, Laughter Challenge is all set to return with a new season and talent on Star One. This time’s Laughter Challenge includes contestants from all demographics and geographies putting their best foot forward to impress the jury. “We are coming up with a fresh set of talent. There are 50 contestants across the country from which the best will be selected to perform on stage,” states Ravi Menon, EVP Star One. The Star One team has cast its net far and wide in search of talent – from places as disparate as IIT Powai, US-based contestants to ‘rickshawalas’. There will also be Pakistani participants bridging the Indian Pakistan divide by spreading laughter. How and where did the auditions take place? “We are not like other reality shows where auditions are held on higher scales. We have developed our own franchise which helps us in the process. This time we went deep in the heart of the country hunting for talent and have been successful too,” asserts Menon. Earlier the show was supposed to be launched on 16 May but it was postponed. “Obviously because of the IPL we postponed it. From a telecast point of view it was a good decision as IPL is peaking and if we had aired the show, we would have failed to grab the viewership,” states Ravi. This time Shatrugan Sinha has taken Shekhar Suman’s place. “We had decided to bring Shatruji last year itself and everything had been worked out. At that point of time Shatrugan Sinha was an active politician and was busy with his work so we decided to bring him for the fourth season,” he avers. “Shekhar will be appearing maybe in the finale episode. We have definitely planned something for him,” concludes Menon. The ‘baap’ of laughter shows returns to Star One with more laughter and absolutely unadulterated humor. It will be aired every Friday and Saturday beginning 6 June at 9.00 pm.
