Sumedha climbing up the success ladder

Most of the reality show contestants never make it big in Bollywood. However, Sumedha Karmahe of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 fame is proving the critics wrong. After having sung for her Sa Re Ga Ma Pa mentor Bappi Lahiri’s composition, Sumedha has bagged two more plum projects.

“I’ve recently sung for director Nikhil Advani’s upcoming film Chandni Chowk to China. It has Akshay Kumar in. the lead. Besides this, I’ve also sung a duet with Shaan. I’m just grabbing every opportunity that’s coming my way,” says Sumedha.

Mahesh Bhatt had signed Sumedha for his film whilst she was in Sa Re Ga Ma. Apparently, the ace director had also asked the songstress to consider acting as well. So, is she taking this advice? She replies, “No. I’m not looking at acting as I’m concentrating only on my singing career. Taking up acting will distract me from my primary task i.e. singing. Well, I’m yet to croon for Maheshji’s film. That will take place in the upcoming months.”

The girl from Chhattisgarh has now shifted base to Mumbai and resides in a rented apartment in Lokhadnwala. “It all seems so unbelievable. Eighth months ago, I was an absolute nobody, living in a remote place like Chhattisgarh. Today, I’m able to rent a flat in a posh area in Mumbai. My hard work is paying off, God too has been very kind to me” signs off Sumedha.

Sure Sumedha, God does help those who help themselves.
