Sheetal Maulik, who is currently doing Gutur Gu on SAB, has recently completed a Marathi movie called Koni Mulgi Deta Ka. This was her first Marathi film as a lead and was a very challenging one as well. Sheetal has a double role in the movie and will be playing the usual mother-daughter roles. The movie also stars Marathi actor Ashutosh Kulkarni and is directed by Ashok Karlekar.

Talking about the film’s story she says, "The film is set in a village where women are being harassed by the villagers. They tag me as a characterless girl and throw me out of the village. While going, she curses the villagers that because of the injustice meted out to her, no one would get married in this village. Her curse comes true.”

Sometime later, however, she delivers a baby girl who eventually falls in love with a boy from that village. "The story is about how this boy will get married in spite of the curse," says the actress, adding, “Playing a double role (mother and daughter) was definitely challenging for me. I had to play the role of a mother who is very firm and the daughter, who is very light hearted and happy go lucky. The film is scheduled for a release during Ganesh Chaturdashi," says Sheetal.

Does this mean she is leaving Gutur Gu? "Not at all. Gutur Gu is immensely inspiring for me. It is a silent comedy, yet it is the number two show on SAB,” beams Sheetal.
