Actress Ruchi Savarn who was earlier seen in Pyaar Ka Bandhan, Tere Liye, Zindagi Kahe – Smile Please and Ram Gopal Verma’s <em>Rakta Charitra</em> is now playing the female lead Devika in Sahara One’s new show <em>Ghar Aaja Pardesi</em>. The actress confesses that she does not have too much in common with her screen persona Devika. She explains, “Devika is too shy whereas I am the tomboy kind. However, both of us are sweethearts of our families.”

My father is a scientist and mother a writer. Writing always came naturally to me but it was the passion of acting that overtook me. Review: Sahara One's Ghar Aaja Pardesi

Indian television is evolving. There was a time when viewers wanted to see demure traditional heroines on TV sans Westernisation. However it seems that the trend has changed now and viewers like to see female protagonists having an East-West blend. <em>Ghar Aaja Pardesi </em> (Sai Baba Telefilms) on Sahara One aims at merging the two poles of Westernisation and traditional Indianisation.
