Jab We Met starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan was released on October 26, 2007. The film clocked 16 glorious years of release today, October 26, 2023. Even after all these years, the Imtiaz Ali directorial has not lost its popularity.

In an earlier interview, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali revealed his initial desire to cast Sunny Deol for his 2014 film Highway, envisioning a mainstream storyline on a grand scale. However, Imtiaz decided to challenge himself by attempting to create a film using just a camera and a compelling story, which ultimately led to the creation of Highway in the form we saw in theatres.

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali feels that his 2020 film Love Aaj Kal, starring Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan, had a great story, but it couldn’t ‘express’ itself well. And hence, the movie failed to attract cine-goers to movie halls.

The movie garnered bad reviews and did poorly both critically and commercially. Imtiaz Ali claimed in an interview that he deliberately set out to make an "ordinary" movie since, after helming Tamasha, people began to refer to him as an "intellectual" director.

Imtiaz Ali is one of the most acclaimed and popular directors in Bollywood. He is known for his ability to tell romantic stories that have strong female characters. In 2017, he did Jab Harry Met Sejal with Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma.

While Jab We Met and Highway are one of his best films the director said that the casting would have been different had he gone with his original plan.

However there was a time when he also acted in a film on the insistence of his friend Anug Kashyap. The film we are talking about is the controversial film Black Friday.

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has revealed whether he will treat his audience and fans to the sequel of Jab We Met. Speaking with News18, Imtiaz said "it’s not happening" but at the same time added, "let’s see what happens". He also said that as of now he doesn't have a story to make a sequel of Jab We Met.
