Pranab Mukherjee

The President of India Pranab Mukherjee yesterday conferred the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri Award to Bollywood diva Sridevi and veteran actress Sharmila Tagore respectively. These were the first set of Padma Honours of the year. According to reports, late legendary actor Rajesh Khanna and late popular comedian Jaspal Bhatti will receive their Padma Bhushan next. Film celebrities like Ramesh Sippy and Nana Patekar will also receive their Padma Shri Awards subsequently. Reportedly another ceremony is expected later for presentation of the awards to the remaining recipients.
