Althea Kaushal and Vikas Gupta have helped me reach the position where I am today - Writer Arzoo Farhadi

Writer Arzoo Farhadi
Most of the time talented individuals end up doing something much more amazing in another profession than the career that they had earlier planned for themselves. Similar is the case with the pretty looking Arzoo Farhadi who majored in Economics but is now a writing associate with Balaji Telefilms. Let’s get to know more about the talented lady on her journey. Arzoo, tell us something about your journey in this industry? Well, this is something I had never planned. Like every 23 year old teenager, I too had an unplanned career. I majored in Economics and planned to do an MBA further. But when well known writer Althea Kaushal, who happens to be in close terms with my family visited me, she came up with the idea of assisting her. I am grateful to her that she gave me this opportunity and groomed a girl who did not know the abc of writing. Also Vikas Gupta (producer and Programming Head, MTV India) has been a pillar in my life and helped me reach a position where I am today. I have assisted in writing Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani, Gumrah- Season 1 and 2, year ender episodes for Savdhan India and Emotional Atyachar and MTV Webbed – Season 1. I am currently writing season 2 of the same series along with Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya for Zing TV, Fanaa and Humko Ishq Ne Maara for MTV. Were there any challenges you faced while writing shows? Well, the major challenge I faced was to understand how to write as I did not study media. My forte is screenplay and what I have learnt is that practical learning is extremely vital than theory. Please put some light on how the audience has grown more open in terms of television viewing? I think the audience has widened the horizon for us to write more unique content. Reality shows have started picking up and now people want to see more of crime and teenage related shows. Though people still love melodrama, the audience has diversified a lot. Does it get hectic to meet deadlines and deliver creative content for episodes? It is sometimes. I am a person who starts my day at 7 am and like to write in the morning. I wind up by 8 pm. If not a writer, what would you have been? I think I would have pursued my MBA and would have been practicing finance in some company. I have truly experienced myself being a writer and I am very delighted.
