What is the philosophy and TG of the channel?

Well, BIG RTL Thrill is positioned as the ultimate action entertainment destination on television. Going with the tagline of Action ka Baap, the channel is positioned to create a new genre of entertainment for male audiences across the Hindi speaking markets. Until now, male skewed entertainment (news channels or sports channels or action films) has been sporadically available across channels but there is no channel that caters exclusively and comprehensively to male audiences and their entertainment needs. And that’s where BIG RTL Thrill comes in to fill a void that exists.

Targeted at male audiences (15-44yrs), BIG RTL Thrill promises to offer edge-of-the-seat entertainment with content that ranges from reality shows, action series, wrestling, extreme sports, game shows and action movies. The international content, dubbed in Hindi, promises to give male audiences the adrenaline rush they seek from their television viewing experience. We have acquired the content from some of the most reputed names ranging from Fremantle, Endemol, Red Bull etc.

Can you talk a bit about your key properties?

Yes, why not. The top 3 shows on the Channel are:

Fear Factor Darr Se Takkar, one of the most challenging reality shows that will showcase the latest seasons from UK, US and Russia. Ensuring mass appeal amongst male audiences of India, the Channel has roped in television actor Arhaan Behl as the host of the show.

Cobra 11 Highway ke Rakhshak is an action series that features a highway patrolling team comprising two men who solve crimes on drugs, robberies and more. The show which has an excellent blend of suspense and action is distributed across over 100 countries globally.

Criss Angel – Magic ya Sach is the most successful magic show in television history and is viewed by over 100 million people each season across 90 countries. During its 6 seasons and over 100 episodes, the show created and performed over 1,000 mind-blowing demonstrations that still amaze and astound viewers.

What does research say about consumption of dubbed content?

The Indian audience is coming of age! They want to consume world-class global content and there is high aspiration value attached to it; however there is a language barrier. Audience mapping also reveals that they believe the quality of international content is superlative, we use better technology, better special effects, have uniqueness and novelty in the each episodic offering.

Any plans to have Indianised (desi) content?

We could explore the same but right now it’s too early to comment on. For now, we have Arhaan Behl as a host for the key show Fear Factor –Darr Se Takkar… adding in the desi flavor.

Since we already have seen the desi version of Fear Factor, will the US, UK and Russian versions resonate?

We are confident that it will. These are the best and the latest seasons with some of the most challenging and demanding never-seen-before tasks. The quality, degree of difficulty and the excitement around the shows surpass anything that has been served to Indian audiences on television. We are confident that these will ring excellently and be loved by audience.
