Arjun Vishal Rai is currently the Associate Director of Life OK’s Savdhan India (Saregama India Limited). He has worked on the films Mangal Pandey and Swades and TV shows like Tumhari Disha, Saat Phere, Saathii Re, Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, Na Aana Is Des Laado, Kaun Banega Crorepati, Voice of India etc. How has your experience with Savdhan India been like? The Saregama team which makes Savdhan India is very cooperative. They fulfill all my demands in short notice. I am especially happy with Kunal Lakhe and Shamim Faridi. Kunal is the production head. Shamin is the Supervising Producer. They are very helpful. Which of your shows are you the proudest of? That will be my first show Tumhari Disha. I had worked on that show from the very beginning. We set the target to get the highest TRP at that time. We would improvise a lot on the show. We achieved the target and was the top show for quite some time. It was an awesome feeling at that time. Is there any show you regret doing or would like to remake? There is no show that I regret doing as I give my one hundred percent input to whatever I do. I always give my suggestions to the senior creative people and once they give me the green signal I go ahead and execute the same. Why did you choose a career in TV? I chose this career as I want to connect with the masses. I want to convey my thoughts with a good message to the society. How has the TV industry changed over the years? Earlier there were less TV channels. Now the number of channels and production houses has increased. You are an Associate Director. How would you define the work of an Associate Director? An Associate Director is the bridge between the Director and the production house. He has to take care of the production, makeup, art and creative departments of the show. He has to amicably settle all disputes arising between the different departments. What are your future career plans? I want to make a good film. I am writing a movie for a big banner which has a super star of this decade.
