Tell us something about yourself.

I am from Mumbai and I have completed my Mass Communication. Writing is my passion. I have written poems and plan to write a book too. I was also into content writing. So I joined various production houses to kickstart my career. I also learned direction for six months. Humsafars was my first break. I learned a lot from the show. I am really glad to be working with Bhagyalakshmi now.

How did your journey start in the entertainment industry?

My brother Uday Berry is my inspiration. He is the creative director of Qubool Hai. He has inspired me to take up this profession as my career.

What are the shows you have done so far?

I have worked for Jai Jai Jai Bajrang Bali and Masakali on Sahara One. Later for Humsafars on Sony TV for 10 months and now Bhagyalakshmi.

How did Bhagyalakshmi come your way?

The creative head of Bhagyalakshmi, Bhavna, called and asked me if I would be willing to join the show. I told them that I couldn’t sit in the office whole day. I can handle the sets, but can’t sit for hours in a cramped office. She was so kind and sweet that she agreed and I joined immediately.

What do you think are the most important qualities a creative head needs?

According to me, the most important quality that a creative head should possess is patience. A creative head is responsible for whatever is happening on the set and is answerable for the success or failure of a show. Any professional in this field should be able to solve issues related to the show or people involved with the show. He should be smart enough to deal with everything.

So what is the most challenging part of your job?

Being there 24/7. Morning or evening, you need to be present whenever there’s some problem.

Have you faced any difficulty in this profession?

Initially, when I joined the show, the problems used to come to me and I used to take a couple of days to sort it out. We have all become great friends now, so we joke around and have a lot of fun on the sets.

Finally, what is your long term goal?

My brother and I are planning to get into production. I am not that comfortable with kitchen drama so, I would like to recreate Hollywood shows. I hope we do it soon.

All the best, Aakaash!
