Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi is a story close to my heart - Producer Yash Patnaik

Producer Yash Patnaik

Yash Patnaik is one of the sought after Producers in the TV industry. After giving audience entertaining shows like Ek Veer Ki Ardaas Veera, Sadda Haq, Rang Badalti Odhani, Junoon, his company Beyond Dreams has come up with a cute love story that gets woven amidst a strong mother-son bonding.

Yes, we are talking about the newly launched show on Sony, Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. In an exclusive talk with Tellychakkar.com, Yash explains how close to his heart this new show is for him. Today, the talented man is also celebrating his birthday, so a lot of wishes to him first.

Excerpts:

What is so special about Beyond Dreams’ new show Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi?

Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi is an important show for us as a production house. It’s a story very close to my heart. It's about a mother-son-daughter in law story, yet not a saas bahu show. We are telling the story against a very realistic setting. Our characters are very real, and so are their emotions and the setting.

We have tried to experiment with the treatment and the look of the show. Saket Chaudhury who has directed popular Hindi films like Pyar Ke Side Effects and Shaadi Ke Side Effects is the director. We also have Pradeep Yadav who directed Balika Badhu for 8 years as the director with us, and he will take over when Saket leaves for his next film.

What prompted you to go for such a unique title?

We wanted to give a lighter title which will summarise equations between the mother and son, as well as lovers. We needed to balance the title without tilting towards only two characters. Rang is also a lucky word for us (remember Rang Badalti Odhani?)

The show seems to be a breath of fresh air when it comes to love and romance, comment.

Yes. The romance has a new take. Characters are refreshing. We have got two wonderful actors in Shaheer Sheikh and Erica Fernandes. I am sure people will like their chemistry and fall in love with them.

You are famous for good casting. The casting of Shaheer Sheikh and Erica is getting good response. Comment.

Casting is the second most important factor in a show. I personally hand-pick all my actors. For me it's very important to get the right faces for the characters we create. I will never go on air with actors I am not convinced with, because of time pressure. After all what we create in script in a span of few months to a year, has to be presented via actors. Isn’t it?

Sadda Haq is also doing well on Channel V. What do you think connected to the audience?

Sadda Haq has been a milestone for us. We have invested a lot of effort in the show from the very beginning. Again the characters, the setting are very real. Melodrama has no place in Sadda.. And I think that's what audience like in it and connect as well.

What changes do you find in the industry over the years?

It's changing for the better. Lot of new talents are coming into our industry. They are hungry to learn and contribute. They just need the support and push. However I think producers and channels should come together to create incubators to develop talent for a better tomorrow.

What new trend do you think is emerging in the TV industry?

There is nothing called a trend. A good story told well will eventually work. And till it works there will be clones. When it stops working, some other story will emerge and then the cloning factory will get activated again. Trend is what works and till it works.

How difficult is multi-tasking for you?

It's been 21 years in the industry. I suppose it comes naturally to me. It is like driving where your hands and legs work separately guided by a single mind. For me all my efforts are guided by a singular passion to excel.
