Channel Sony MAX2 has successfully completed a year in the business now and has proved to be consistent in its growth throughout the year. And on the occasion of the fruitful completion of one year, we got involved in a conversation with Vaishali Sharma, Senior Vice President- Marketing, of Sony MAX.

The channel which has been presenting the viewers with some of the iconic Bollywood films definitely believes in serving the old contents with freshness. Shared Vaishali, “We have a rich heritage of Hindi cinema in our country and we thought of putting it together in an organized manner. And most of these films are timeless; they can never be out of time and from there we came up with the idea of its tagline ‘jab deko tab naya’ (it’s new every time you watch). We believe in serving any content with a fresh presentation, which gives a wider appeal for audiences of all age group and that is the vision we have set for the channel”.

So, do you think such films appeal to the youth? Vaishali replied, “To be honest, youth is our target audience, as we can continuously present the younger generation with old tales with freshness added to it and the challenge is how we motivate them to watch iconic films. More importantly the huge cross section among the youth, who are fond of the dialogues and music of old times. Moreover, the Trivia, Take2 and Sitaare section depicts the unknown facts related to the film or making of the master piece or about the legendary figures. And youths are by nature curious and such programmes will enhance their interest only”.

The channel has not only presented the urban audience with some of the best movies but also spread the message to small towns. Speaking about the same Vaishali commented, “We initiated an innovative programme ‘Film, Family and Fun’ as we thought that audience from comparatively small cities and towns should also feel the magic of Bollywood films. Over 3000 families participated, among which one family won the ‘Family Number 1’ title”.

As the channel continues with its success story in coming years, we wish the channel and Vaishali all the best.
