Formation of BCCC
Off late, the Indian audiences have been raising hue and cry because of the indiscriminate use of foul language and increasing vulgar content on Indian TV. Taking a cue from this, The Indian Broadcasting Federation (IBF) formed self-regulatory guidelines and a complaints redressal mechanism through the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) in an effort to establish self regulation on all non-news channels.
BCCC come into effect from the first week of June, this year. During every show that is provided to Indian households, a scroll appears below which urges the audiences to complain if they find the content shown in the program objectionable.
