We have gone past year 2013, and are now looking forward to great things happening in the New Year 2014. And the ever-popular idiot box as always, promises to entertain viewers with a fresh new bouquet of shows this year. What’s in store for viewers in the first quarter of 2014? Tellychakkar.com gets you the details. Star Plus, the #1 channel across all GECs has a long line-up of shows waiting to see the dawn as always. And this year too is no different. First of all, Cinevistaas Ltd’s close-to-heart project Daag which has been in the making for long is expected to see the light very soon. This suspense thriller is said to be the biggest project that Star Plus as a channel and Cinevistaas as a maker have ever attempted. Daag featuring Vatsal Seth, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Ayub Khan, Simone Singh seems to be ready for a February launch. Suzana Ghai, Hemant Ruprell and Ranjeet Thakur’s Panorama Entertainment will provide a fresh love story titled Ek Ladki Suhani Si with Saahil Mehta and Neha Yadav of movie Love Express fame, Rajshri Rani and Ankur Verma playing leads. Ashish Vidyarthi’s wife, Rajoshi Vidyarthi will play a pivotal role. The set for the show is presently being put up post which it will go on floor. Ace Producer Rajan Shahi’s Director’s Kut, which has a long-standing association with Star Plus, will provide a concept loosely based on the novel Sense and Sensibilities on Star Plus. We hear that various workshops with the writers are presently being held. 4 Lions Films will bring a modern-age love story in the first quarter of the year. The show will in all probability bring two stalwarts in Gurmeet Choudhary and Barun Sobti together. Endemol India has been planning a hospital based concept, on the lines of The Grey’s Anatomy. However, they have not yet zeroed in on the perfect cast, and there are already speculations of the show being scrapped. Let’s wait to see if the show manages to see the light of dawn. Phir Ishq Kills, coming from the stables of Rowdy Rascals Productions will deal with love stories that have gone wrong. The episodic stories are being shot right now. BP Singh’s Fireworks Productions has been planning a cop-based weekly or bi-weekly show on Star Plus for some time now. This will be a huge show in terms of conceptualization, if it happens. However, the makers have not zeroed in on the right cast as of now. Miditech India Pvt. Ltd. which gave Hindi TV one-of its-kind fiction show with the concept of airlines in it with Saara Aakash and Choona Hai Aasmaan are now back with yet another concept with aviation as the backdrop. As reported by Tellychakkar.com, the show which will be a modern-age love story has VJ Yudhishthir and Tulip Joshi as leads. BBC Worldwide Productions and Mrinal Jha’s Undercover Productions as reported by Tellychakkar.com are working on a passionate love story with a periodic set-up of the 1960s. The show will be completely shot in Delhi. Acclaimed Director Ashutosh Gowarikar will be the next big name of Bollywood to produce a show for television. As per reports, the man is presently working on an alternate fiction show for Star Plus, details of which are being closely guarded at the moment. Star Plus has plans of re-launching its afternoon band. The channel has even approved two shows to be in the afternoon band, one coming from Hats Off Productions and the other from Optimystix Productions. However, there seems to be no development on the launches as of now. Aamir Khan will return to the small screen after two long years with the Season 2 of Satyamev Jayate. Similar to Season one, the talk show will highlight various societal issues. It is slated for a February launch. Sunil Grover, who got out of his popular character of ‘Guthi’, is presently working things out with Star Plus for a comedy show similar to Comedy Nights with Kapil. Coming to Zee TV, Rajan Shahi’s Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya the young-age love story is all set to kick-start from 6 January 2014. The show launches new faces Mishkat Varma and Kaanchi Singh as leads. Rashmi Sharma Productions will come up with a family drama on Zee TV, which has Kunal Verma and Samaira Rao as leads. Aleeza Khan and veteran actress Krutika Desai will also feature in the show. As of now, the makers have shot the pilot for the same, and are waiting for an approval from the channel. Esselvision Productions and B K Modi’s Spice Studio, who have the magnum opus show on Buddha on air currently on Zee, are working on yet another big-budget mythological saga based on the mighty warrior and sage Parashuram. The show as of now titled Bhrigu is expected to hit the screens some time in 2014. As of now, the recce of various locations is on, and the casting process will begin soon. Moving to non-fiction, DID L’il Masters Season 3 will be back once the ongoing dance reality show Dance India Dance 4 culminates. The fresh season with kids aspiring to perform at their top level will have Mithun Chakraborthy as the Grand Master. Talking of shows that can be expected on Life OK, we have got to hear of an interesting line-up. Firstly, Ellis Bridge the musical love story produced by acclaimed director Dharmesh Mehta under the banner Namanraj Productions is gaining all the impetus at the moment. A Gujarati family drama with Heeba Nawab and Ankit Modgill as leads, the show is presently shooting the song and dance sequences as part of the presentation program. Ace Director Arvind Babbal will turn Producer with a thriller based out in UP. The channel has major plans to market and promote this huge launch of theirs. The show is tentatively titled Mahakumbh. Presently it is in its casting stage. Director Imtiaz Punjabi’s Scaling Heights will come up with a love story with an army backdrop on Life OK. As per the news that we at Tellychakkar.com have, Karam Rajpal, Gulki Joshi and Nikhhil Chaddha form the prime cast. Rajshri Productions is working on a family drama based out in Mathura for Life OK. The show is presently at its scripting as well as casting stage. It is said to be a show on three generations. Now moving to shows on Sony Entertainment Television - Big B’s finite fiction show directed by Anurag Kashyap is touted to be one of the ‘gems’ of this year’s launches. The shoot for the show has already started, and was supposed to launch in December 2013. However, there has been a delay. Amitabh Bachchan will be seen playing a business tycoon in his debut fiction show. After the news of Big B’s fiction debut came his better half Jaya Bachchan’s news of doing a fiction show on television. The show based on a Gujarati novel will have her playing a single parent. Like her husband, Jaya Bachchan’s show will also air on Sony TV. Gul Khan’s 4 Lions Films is planning a love story for Sony TV. We have heard that the channel and makers are keen on signing in Kinshuk Mahajan as the lead. However, the show is still at a nascent stage. Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao, Miditech India’s presentation of the popular British reality game show I’m a Celebrity, Get me out of here! will soon be back with its Season 2. The show wherein the group of contestants needs to survive in a jungle camp without any amenities and have to compete with each other to stay in the show will be back on Sony TV. The winner of its first season was TV actor Mona Wasu. Coming to Colors, reports coming in state that Shashi-Sumeet Productions is planning an interesting fiction show for the channel. The show is still in its nascent stage. Colors will very soon come up with the fifth season of India’s Got Talent wherein talents from across the country will showcase their various skills. The show will have Karan Johar, Malaika Arora Khan and Kirron Kher as judges. Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi in its fifth season will see its launch in March. This season hosted by Bollywood Director Rohit Shetty will be shot in the locales of Argentina. And yes the channel is expected to be back with season 8 of Bigg Boss, though rumours hit the market that the Endemol property might shift to Life OK. Only time will tell!!! SAB TV has a comedy show titled Jai-Veeru in pipeline, coming from Optimystix Productions. As per reports, Dharmesh Mehta is also planning a comedy sitcom with the channel. Sahara One has a show of Raakesh Paswan’s Village Boy Productions in pipeline. However, we hear no major development on its front. This is the extended line-up of shows that we could decipher.
