5 Life Lessons from Balika Vadhu

Balika Vadhu

One of the longest-running cult drama on the small screen is the torrid love story of Anandi and Jagdish in Balika Vadhu. Their child marriage, their eventual separation, and their respective love stories make this show an interesting one. We drum up a list of life lessons you can learn from this show airing on Colors…take a look:

Determination can take you places:

Whether it’s the lead pair, whose determination, makes them fight all the negativities or their children who wish to survive the cruel society, it’s their resolve that takes them places. We wish to be like them too, so us we don’t compromise on our dreams either. Life is tough, but our decisions can be easy and fulfilling.

Love is everything:

Married off at an age when neither of the two knew anything about love, they grow up to not only find true love, but also marry them. Even though we crave for riches and fame, it is love that completes us. They fight for their loves, they stand beside them through the best and worst, and the two also teach us a lesson or two about emotions and affections.

Family bond:

Those who don’t have the happiness of family support are the most unfortunate. But the characters in this serial need not worry about that, as each of them has the love and affection of their respective families. From loving mothers to dedicated fathers to adorable children, there’s a caring element in their lives that makes their struggle sweeter. It teaches us to value our family as well, because nothing comes close to a close-knit khaandaan.

Cultural touch:

The show teaches the cultural nuances of an obscure village where chid marriage is still prevalent. In fact, one of the reasons Balika Vadhu made it big was due to the interesting story line that intended to create awareness among the masses regarding the evils of marrying off your kids young. What bigger life lesson can you learn other than this?

Hope keeps us alive:

Just like determination, hope is another important factor for our existence. When Anandi is looking for her kidnapped daughter Nimboli, it’s the hope of seeing her daughter alive that pushes the lead actress to her limits. Perhaps we can pick up a cue or two from her and follow it in daily lives!

What say, guys? What have you learnt from this show? Let us know.
