TV celebs share fashion tips for Durga Puja

Shubho Maha Saptami to all of you!

With the Durga Puja fervor piping up every moment, gear up to go all stylish for the festival. The puja days are special for Bengalis who indulge themselves in yummy food, adda session and some great fashion statements. From beauties in six yards beautiful sarees to the men in dhoti, the colourful clothes to the pretty jewelleries, the time is not only to go traditional but also stylish.

Tellychakkar.com got Bengali TV actors to share a few fashion tips for our readers.

Sayantani Ghosh:

I think people should go all traditional on Durga Puja as we hardly wear it in our day to day life. Personally I love sarees and make the most of these days to don them. I also make it a point to drape the white and red border saaree on Ashtami. I feel people should not go overboard with accessories and make up as in this humid temperature, things can get really uncomfortable. Keep it smart and sensible; or else it will hinder your enjoyment.

Indraneil Sengupta:

I feel comfort should be the most important factor while dressing up for pujas. Since you go around places and spend a lot of time out, something light and breathy is a must. You can choose from a range of kurtas and short kurtis. In Calcutta people wear a dhoti, which is not seen much in Mumbai. I think one should give it a try as it’s the only time when one can wear them.

Ishita Dutta:

I feel women looks the best in traditional. It not only makes them look beautiful but also sexy (smiles). I love everything about puja fashion as you get to don beautiful sarees, jewelleries, the shaka pola etc. I feel if I was married I would have been really happy in these days dressing up beautifully (laughs). For the readers, I would suggest them to bring out all your beautiful sarees and go paint the town red.

Rehaan Roy:

As it’s really hot these days, it’s important to wear clothes in comfortable material. Dress up simple and classy. I think T-shirts or kurta with a pair of jeans would look the best as it’s easy to carry. Dhotis definitely look good but make sure you know how to manage it lest you get embarrassed (laughs).

Pratyusha Banerjee:

I feel it’s important to dress up in Indian avatar during Durga Puja as it brings out the festive mood best. I love wearing variant colors. The colourful ghagras and matching bangles are always fun to don. Heavy jewelleries also look pretty. This is the time when you should dress up nicely and not go casual with the look.

Avinash Mukherjee:

I don’t think youngsters like me can go completely traditional as it gets difficult to wear them all day. I thus make it a point to mix match my clothes. Kurtas and pathanis look good with a pair of jeans. Being from a traditional family we go out to puja pandals throughout the day and thus comfort is a must for me. Also you can wear jeans with a shirt and pair it with a waist coat, it looks really smart.
