I don't regret not doing Bayttab Dil Ki Tamanna Hai : Anupriya Kapoor

If one were to carry a poll on the most popular youth characters on Indian television, then Mayank, Gunjan, Nupur and Samrat from Miley Jab Hum Tum will most likely qualify for the top five. However, one more character, who is fast becoming popular is Suhani (played by debutante Anupriya Kapoor). Her character was introduced barely four months ago and has already shot to fame. TellyChakkar spoke to the actress at length on her background, on her almost first show with Balaji Telefilms and future plans. On her background

On her background I was born and brought up in Delhi, in a family of four; my parents and my younger brother. I studied there till Class XII, after which I moved to Mumbai to make a career in acting. Currently I am pursuing my graduation through a correspondence course and am specialising in psychology. On her move to Mumbai A couple of years ago I had come to Mumbai on a vacation. To be very frank, I didn’t even think of acting and tried to utilise my holiday for career purposes as well. I met up with a few people from the industry and also appeared for a few auditions. Thankfully, my meetings were quite positive and I decided to pursue it further. I also realised I had to make Mumbai my base to move things. On her struggle to get a toehold in the industry After moving to Mumbai, I started giving random auditions. I got selected for two cameo roles in Yashraj shows – Rishta.com and Seven . But I wanted to do a lot more and finally got the offer from Miley Jab Hum Tum . It was a good break. On her aborted debut with Balaji’s Baytaab Dil Ki Tamanna Hai Yes, I did get selected for the female lead of that show and even shot for the promos. However, when I went for the actual shoot, I realised the contractual terms I had with the makers were violated. I was signed up as the female lead of the show but when I started shooting I found my character being sidelined. So I decided not to work in it and I do not regret my decision. On her role in Miley Jab Hum Tum I am very happy I came into the limelight with a show like Miley Jab Hum Tum . It is a fabulous show. If you look at the various characters, Nupur and Gunjan are just opposites of each other. My character has bit of both these extremes and brings in the much-needed balance to the show. In the show Suhani and Adhiraj (Nishant Malkani), are committed to each other and their love track will go steady in the show. On living alone in Mumbai (Smiles) Let me correct you; I do not stay alone in Mumbai. My grandmother stays with me. When I moved to Mumbai, my parents were worried and did not want me to live alone so we worked out this arrangement. I am happy to have her around. She is 67 years old and a phone call away for any help. Sometimes she even packs my lunch and comes to the set. She is a sweetheart. In any case, our co-stars and the unit become part of one’s extended family. You spend so much time with them they become a part and parcel of your life. On her passion for dance I am not sure how many people know this, but I am very passionate about dancing. I am a trained Bharat Natyam dancer and have learned it for 10 years. I have also learned a number of Western dance styles. I would love to show my talent in a reality show that will give me an opportunity to reach out to everyone in the country. On her long hair Thank you for asking this question. I would like to clarify this to all my well wishers and fans that contrary to what most people think, I don’t wear a wig! Every strand of my hair is real and a result of the patient nurturing and care of my mother. Now, my grandmother has taken up that role.
