Jehangir Vakil scores a hat trick with films.

We all remember him as the timid Pratap (Jehangir Vakil) of Balika Vadhu. His death sequence took the nation by storm and did wonders for the show. Though Jehangir Vakil the man who played Pratap was not seen in any other serial his fans will be pleased to hear that he will soon return as an actor…and that too on the big screen. The actor is doing three movies Paathshala, Kacha Nimbu and Mera Bachpan.

Interestingly Jehangir signed all these films before he chose to be part of Balika Vadhu. ”I never thought that I will do a television serial. Balika Vadhu just happened to me, I still do not know how they got my number. In fact I was ready to start shooting for my movie but it got delayed due to some technical reasons and I could do the serial.” In Paathshala which is scheduled for a release in April Jehangir shares screen space with actors like Nana Patekar, Shahid Kapoor and Ayesha Takia. ”My first scene was with Ayesha and it was fun to work with her. My interaction with Nana too was very good. It was really motivating to watch him perform. I loved his personality and we never saw him get angry on the sets at all,” the actor informs. Continuing on his film stint Vakil adds,” In Kacha Nimbu I play the younger version of Mohnish Behl. It is a story which has a musical backdrop to it. The other film titled Mera Bachpan is a comedy and is directed by Sagar Bellary (of Bheja Fry fame). It is a story about school going kids and I am playing college student.” So is he open to doing any more television shows?” I miss my Balika Vadhu unit a lot and I keep chatting with them. I too have been hearing rumours about Pratap coming back in the show. But officially I have got no call from the production house so I do not know what is happening. Most of the time in daily soaps things get finalised at the last moment, so you never know what will happen. For the time being I do not want to do television, not even cameos. My preference is films. I am really looking forward to Paathshala at this moment. I think the other two movies will also soon release. Until that time I want to join politics. I have registered myself with Yuva Congress as I am quite impressed with Rahul Gandhi.” There was a buzz that Pratap’s look-alike will make an entry in the show, but it did not work out. Until then lets see how he fares on the big screen.
