Money. That's what drives everyone in the final analysis, whether in the glamour world of acting or the hard grind of scripting and producing. Cashin' In sits down with TV celebs to know well they handle their financial matters, and tracks their spending patterns. The boy next door, Amit Jain, who rose to fame with Yeh Meri Life Hai on Sony is quite satisfied when it comes to money. The actor is content doing daily soaps. Money for him is only essential for leading a decent life. Amit talks about his investments and importance of wealth in his life. 4 out of 10… This is how much money means to me. I personally feel when your basic necessities are fulfilled then cash is just numbers. I think a decent house, car and bank balance is enough to lead a happy life in Bombay. There are different stages when it comes to earning money, like initially, when I was started my career cash meant a lot to me but today I’m very satisfied with what I earn. I’m an impulsive buyer… I’m an impulsive buyer. To be frank enough most of us are. Sometimes I end up buying things which I don’t even use but I have no regrets. At the start, I had to think a lot when it came to buying goods. Today when I’ve got the money why should I not fulfill my desires? I just follow my instincts. Stocks and Mutual Funds… I have invested money in the stock market and mutual funds. I feel the stock market is the live market. You are aware of the changes on a daily basis. And if you do it impulsively it becomes livelier. Whereas in mutual funds you can’t get the daily updates. If you have proper knowledge, you can triple the money by buying or selling stocks. Most expensive thing that I bought… It would definitely be my house. Then my car, an Aveo, a laptop and an I-pod. Then there are many small things that initially I found expensive but today I can afford them. Daily soaps make me feel very secure… Daily soaps make me feel very secure. That’s the reason for taking up these shows. My first show, Yeh Meri Life Hai has given me stability and after that Thodi Khushi… and now Mere Apne. Expenses are handled by me… In Bombay I have to handle my own expenses. I have two people with me who take care of my banking. They also accompany me on the sets. My first salary… My first pay cheque was of Rs 40 thousand. I did a Limca ad with Sonali Bendre and after getting that pay cheque I felt on top of the world. I still remember I had just landed in Bombay and told them that I was an actor. Somebody told me to audition for this ad and I was selected. My first salary was spent on my basic necessities. Cash I carry every day… Usually I carry three to four thousand bucks and my credit cards. When investing money… For stock and mutual funds, if you don’t have the correct knowledge its better to go through a professional.
