Badho Bahu on &TV: ‘Weight & Watch’

Here is the review of &TV's Badho Bahu. Do let us know how you find the show..
Badho Bahu

The term ‘fat’, rings a crude sound, almost being blasphemous. Hence, the euphemism ‘well-endowed’.

In a society fixated over human physical features, being a woman -and that too on the heavier side - can certainly blur one’s lines of destiny, especially that of conjugal.

New GEC kid on the block, &TV (only a year and a half since its first beam), has been making constant efforts to dole out programming with subtle balance of entertainment and social issues.

After Gangaa’s success, the channel in its latest venture, Badho Bahu, attempts to capture the hopes, fears, pain and emotional ups and downs of a lady weighing more. The setting is that of Haryana and the flow is dramatic and over the top.

A big high-five to the concept but only time will tell if the makers (Sunny Side Up and HumTum Tele-Films Private Limited) will manage to check off the necessary boxes for apt portrayal of Badho via efficient, compelling scenes.

Rytasha Rathore as Komal aka Badho brings freshness and gets into the skin of the character effortlessly. A theatre bred actress in real life, Rytasha is a perfect casting and will hold the ‘ratings reins’ most definitely.

She comes across as a strong, determined woman who faces the challenges in life with a smile (quite humorous with her punch lines). Brimming with positivity and effervescence, Rytasha is a force to reckon with.

The beau of the beautiful belle, playing the role of Lucky, is reality shows star Prince Narula (Bigg Boss and Splitsvilla). In the first episode one gets to ogle at his well toned body, but we hope that he will get over his reality show hangover and resort to ‘acting’ to justify his character and overall theme of Badho Bahu.

The structure otherwise is stereotypical with a cunning bhabhi, a caring daadi and a rude friend.

The scene transition is slow paced and doesn’t entirely manage to hold audience attention for a long time.

Having said that, it’s early days and we, at Tellychakkar.com, are hopeful that the coming episodes will prove to be more engaging, intriguing and enlightening and some real concerns of the core theme will be depicted well.
