Review: Thumbs up for &TV's Adhuri Kahani Hamari

Adhuri Kahani Hamari

&TV’s brand new show Adhuri Kahani Hamari went on air this week. Here’s what we thought about the first episode.

One of the most popular TV producers Gul Khan and Gorky (4 Lions Films), have proved again that they have the knack of coming up with interesting concepts.  Adding a reincarnation twist to a regular soap, the makers have roped in popular TV beauty Mahima Makwana and paired her opposite Laksh Lalwani, a relatively new but spunky guy, to give us a new love story on the small screen.

All about the show

Adhuri Humari Kahani is a story that exceeds all hurdles, problems, religion and even DEATH. It’s a story of Manasvini and Madhav’s incomplete love story which has been caused by Maya, an Icchadhari Nagin. As Maya betrays their friendship, the eternal love between them is left unfinished. Radhika in her new journey unravels her incomplete story of love with Prince Madhav.

Good points

At first, when we heard about the story, we thought it was just a usual one. But we were pleasantly surprised that the show had its own originality. There are enough differences in the traits of the main characters that make the show rather refreshing. Laksh’s entry was super hot for the audience. He has a starry air around him but at the same time he has something honest about his character that makes him very relatable. Mahima has more screen time than Laksh in the first episode and she carries the show quite well indeed. Playing a character caught between her past and current life, she gives a believable performance. The production value and the sets used in the show are quite different. Bollywood veteran actress Himani Shivpuri who plays Mahima’s aunt is mildly funny, but at the same time pretty protective when it comes to her niece.

Bad points

There are a few flaws in the show as well. First of all, it isn’t clear why Krissh aka Laksh jumped into the pond after saving the beautiful lead. Secondly, the way Mahima imagines her past in her dream is too exaggerated. Why Shubhangi is trapped seems to be a mystery in itself also.

Thumbs up

Adhuri Kahani Hamari has started off on a high note.  Overall, it is a decent watch and will most likely grow on you as the story proceeds.  We hope that the show manages to capture the essence of romance between its characters in the near future.
