The Durga Pooja Pandals during the Navratri festival is a visual treat when it comes to the ambience and the religious fervor. And to make inroads into the huge crowd of thousands at a busy pandal is an art in itself…

What if the shoot of a television show takes place amidst the thousands of people who have gathered to get a glimpse of Durga Maa? Well, this is what the makers (Village Boy Productions) of Zee TV’s Afsar Bitiya did when they shot a particular sequence with their leads Pintoo Singh (Kinshuk Mahajan) and Krishna (Mitali Nag) at the busy Durga Pooja Pandal at B.N. Nagar, Andheri West.

We hear that the unit had an amazing shooting experience as they had put up many hidden cameras in the pandal and the crowd gathered did not know that a shoot is going to happen. As per the story line, Pintoo and Krishna were to walk amidst the crowd and get a darshan of the Durga Maa. With more than 5000 people gathered at the pandal for darshan, the shoot was not an easy ride, that too with prominent faces especially Kinshuk Mahajan who is a crowd puller. However, before the crowd could realize that Kinshuk and Mitali were around, half of the shoot was over.

Said producer Raakesh Paswan, “It was a very nice experience to shoot at the pandal. We had set up cameras and to shoot amidst a crowd of more than 5000 was a memorable experience. The scene has come out well.”

When contacted Kinshuk Mahajan shared his experience of shooting at the real pandal, “It was an adventure of sorts. We had to walk in between the crowd. And there were people who recognized us. But in order to match our scene, we had to just nod at the crowd as though the crowd has identified Krishna as the BDO.”

Ask him about any interesting incident at the real-location shoot, and Kinshuk said, “Actually I was a caught unawares when I got to know that we were to shoot at the pandal. I was dressed in casuals and was out when I was called for the shoot. This meant that I had to change to proper attire before shooting for this religious scene. I had no other option but to change in the kitchen of the pandal. The cooks present there were wondering what I am up to. This was really funny.”

As per the story line, Pinky (Shivshakti Sachdev) and Babloo’s (Yash Sinha) wedding has happened, but there is lot of unrest between Pinky and Krishna. When the whole family is at Krishna’s place to perform some rituals post marriage, Pinky chances upon the IAS admit card of Krishna and is shocked. She happens to steal the admit card and decides to reveal the truth of Krishna still aspiring to become an IAS officer before the entire family. However, Pintoo comes in as the saviour and saves Krishna by taking away the admit card from Pinky without her knowing it. Pinky who assumes that she has the admit card calls all in the family to assemble and reveals the truth. But she is not able to prove her point as Pintoo has already taken away the card from Pinky. After this, both Krishna and Pintoo decide to pray for the well being of the entire family and decide to go the Durga puja Pandal.

Get ready to capture this real life scenario in Afsar Bitiya.

Durga pooja is an amazing festival that is celebrated in several Hindu countries in Asia. Last year, while I was traveling, I got the chance to attend one of such ceremonies. It was a really good spiritual experience. hydro heel
