After Oon Pauus launched last month, Zee Marathi is set to launch another mega serial titled Ankur, a weekly launching on 14 April.
Writer-director of the serial Pratima Kulkarni explains, "Most serials end at women leaving their houses. This serial will show the life of a woman after her leaving the house."
This serial will have Tushar Dalvi and Kavita Lad playing the lead roles. "I chose Tushar to play the male lead because I wanted someone who is successful. Tushar fits the bill perfectly," says Pratima. She expalins her choice of deciding upon Kavita as, "Kavita has the looks of an innocent lady. She can also have the look of a warm mother after certain years."
"I play a character who falls prey to the pressures of life. He has his own way of getting things done and has no regrets about it. This is in contrast to my existing image," says Tushar.
Tushar has been long associated with Zee Marathi. He hosted Nakshatranche Dene and currently hosts a children's quiz show called Alpha Scholars. He has acted in Avantika, Pimpalpan and Rimjihm. He has also played significant roles in Marathi films like Devrai, Mrugjal, Bhet and Not Only Mrs Raut.
Tushar is a familiar face in Hindi films too. He has acted in several Hindi films like Samay, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and Uuf Kya Jaadoo Mohabbat Hai and a comedy serial called Mrs Madhuri Dixit. Presently, he is doing a play called Tan Man.
Kavita Lad plays the lead in Char Divas Sasuche on ETV Marathi. The cast of Ankur includes Shailesh Datar, Seema Deshmukh, Madhuri Bhagwat and Shubangi Damle.
One expects this serial will create a milestone like Pratima Kulkarni's earlier ventures Prapanch on Zee Marathi and Jhoka on ETV Marathi have.
