Arjun fame Siddharth Sen all set to open a restaurant 'Sid's ADDA'...Read for details

Siddharth Sen
Siddharth Sen, the adorable techie (Sree) of Star Plus’ Arjun is a happy and contented man today, but feels that he has a long way to go when it comes to making his loved ones proud of his work. Well, accepted that Siddharth is a very good actor, and that his work in Arjun and Chhoti Bahu proves that. But we are now speaking of the entrepreneur in Siddharth who has been toiling it out for many months now to put in place his ‘dream’, that of opening a restaurant. Yes, the young lad has now managed to fulfill his vision. Siddharth’s restaurant, aptly called ‘Sid’s ADDA - where your hunger is stamped out’, will open on 2 February 2014. The restaurant situated in 7 Bungalows, Andheri West is at Gautam View Society, Opposite Axis Bank. Siddharth in a hearty conversation with Tellychakkar.com said that this idea of opening a restaurant has been within him for some time now. “Last October when I suffered a setback owing to my back injury in Arjun, I sat back and thought a lot about this idea of mine. ‘Food’ has always been a favourite subject to talk on at my house. And I definitely wanted to do something related to food. The first time I had a conversation about this, was of course way back during my Chhoti Bahu days. I had then spoken about this dream of mine with one of my co-actors on the show. I believe that one needs to do something safe in life for a way of living. And apart from being an actor, I always wanted to set up something of my own. Above all, I do believe that Mumbai is a place which gives you quite a lot if you are accepted. But if you are not accepted, it will kick you out. After Arjun, I thought this was the right time to think about opening a restaurant. However, when I talked about it with many of my close friends and trusted people, everyone expressed their displeasure over my idea. And this made me more stubborn and I told myself that I had to get into this, and make this dream a reality. Well, while there were many who discouraged me, there were few friends like Sana Khan, Mrunal Thakur (co-actors from Arjun) who motivated me. Speaking about me, I am a person who will do what I feel, but I always need a push in life. This is when I decided to talk to my father about this idea. The immediate question he asked me was when I wanted to start the restaurant and in which area. This was enough for me as motivation. With my parents and few friends supporting me, I went all out with the hotel plan.” He went on to add, “Nothing is easy to attain and I found this as a learning curve. I learnt for nearly three months, and after a lot of trial and error methods, I set up my restaurant. Today, I am happy and peaceful. My ‘Adda’ will open on 2 February and that will be the day when I will go back home and sleep peacefully. I have been waiting to see this day for a long time. I am excited, confident that things will fall in place.” Having said this, Siddharth says he has a long way to go, and his goal will be to open as many ‘ADDAS’ as possible. Talking about the kind of delicacies he has in his menu card, Siddharth explained, “I have three chefs – one for continental stuff, a guy for making the chops, cutlets and related dishes, and one more chef for making momos. Momos happen to be my favourite and I will serve it to all. Let me tell you, we have no liquor in ADDA. It is a beautiful place to hang out, sip coffee or a milk shake. I do not have any target customers and will cater to people of all ages. The ADDA has both an outer space and well as inner space, and it can accommodate 40-50 people when it is houseful.” When queried whether Siddharth being a Bengali will keep yummy Bengali sweet delicacies and he said, “My menu card is very flexible. We will be discussing regularly about what sells and what will not sell. I will add many more delicacies depending on the public feedback. But as of now, I will start with no sweets.” Last but not the least, Siddharth spoke his heart out saying that the two people who mean a lot to him are his dad and uncle. “I have got quite a lot of compliments from my well-wishers for making my dream come true, but I am yet to get an appreciation from my dad and uncle. I am waiting for the day when I will receive a pat on my back from them, saying ‘we are proud of you’. They are very difficult to be pleased, but the day I get a compliment from them, I will find the real happiness.” Siddharth, we wish you all the luck. May your ‘ADDA’ flourish and shine.
