Coinciding with the Bengali and the Malayalee New Year, five television personalities are celebrating their birthdays today (15 April). They are Neelu Vaghela and Varunn Jain of Diya Aur Baati Hum, Jyotsna Chandola of Sasural Simar Ka, Manasi Roy and Rehaan Roy (Savdhan India and Gumrah). Wishing them a happy birthday, let’s check how the special day is serving them. Shared Neelu, “My birthday started on a great note; yesterday I went to Ajmer and today I am at Udaipur with my husband (Arvind) for some work. My husband and my two lovely kids always make sure to make my birthday special. My husband and his team are going to surprise me with Rajasthani dance and food tonight.” How do you feel on getting a year older? “Age is just a number and I think the person should be young by heart,” she quipped. Observed Varunn, “Since I am not shooting today, I am celebrating my birthday with my close friends. Last night there was a cake cutting ceremony at my place; today I went out for lunch with friends while in the evening I have planned for a small get-together. And once Neeluji, who is also celebrating her birthday, comes back we shall jointly treat our Diya Aur Baati team.” Who was the first one to wish you? “Like every year, it was my mom who called me first to wish me. Though she is in Punjab but she made sure to call me early,” she answered. Jyotsna averred, “Though I am shooting today, am having a great time with my Sasural… team. My to-be husband Nitesh (director of the show) bought me a Barbie doll cake; that was a very sweet gesture on his part. As I am shooting in the evening too, I will call for food and treat my entire cast and crew. Talking about gifts that I received, I got a makeup kit, clothes and of course cakes and chocolates.” Do you feel bad if someone forgets your birthday? “I do, but I am a kind of person who won’t feel bad about it and tell the person to wish me since it’s my birthday,” she informed. Added Rehaan Roy, “Last night, my friends brought in my birthday with cakes. Today, it is special day for me since along with my birthday this day happens to be a Bengali New Year too. So my sister cooked yummy food for me for lunch while in the evening my brother will cook continental food for me and my friends. There will be small house party and later we might go out for a drive.” What about gifts? “I received an iPhone from someone special. I also got clothes and lots of chocolates,” he replied. We tried calling Manasi but she remained unavailable.
