Feasting in Saptami with Sanaa Khaan

Check the slideshow above As a model, she grabbed eyeballs with her ‘Yeh tho bada toing (toying) hai’ Amul Macho ad, did films down South (all four languages), followed it up with being Salman Khan’s fave in Bigg Boss culminating in a role in his film Jai Ho. That’s Sanaa Khaan for you who is waiting with bated breath to sign another Bollywood offering. She came dressed in smart casuals of printed leggings and a cool sleeveless top. "I don't believe in zero size. Women have to look full," she opines. I met Sana for lunch at Holiday Inn’s Saptami all-day dining restaurant, in Saki Naka. Display of mangolicious desserts (mousse, cheesecake and more) looked immensely appealing proving to be a harbinger of what to expect. And honestly we were more than pleased by the vast buffet spread that awaited us. The actor is fond of Thai and coincidentally, it was Thai specialties in the theme lunch world cuisine that day. Welcomed by smiling Chef Vasant Khot, who is a brilliant pastry chef besides overseeing the main kitchen, the appetizers paraded on our plates with alacrity. Sana being a food lover that she is, relished the scrumptious Videshi Murg Kebab and Gilafi Seekh Kebab commenting, “They are excellent - crisp on the outside and tender inside. You can’t make out by tasting if Subz Broccoli Tikki is veg or non-veg - simply superb!” she gushed. Throwing light on Salman Khan’s incline towards her in Bigg Boss house, she explains, “I had done two ads with Salman Khan in which I just exchanged a ‘Hi’ and ‘Bye’ with the star. And then people started saying he was favouring me in Bigg Boss and such things.” But then he did offer only her a role in Jai Ho to which she says between nibbling delicious Bharwan Paneer Tikka, “He did say on camera we have worked together before. And I was offered this role in Jai Ho. Even if it was a negative one, I got noticed.” Over crisp, Golden Fried Prawns and smooth Mango shake, Sana reveals she loves uniforms with the badge, stars on the shoulders… “I can’t be in the armed forces, it would be too much, but I would have liked to be a Customs Officer if not an actor.” Currently, she is reading scripts and is in talks with film production houses “that can’t be revealed at this stage.” She surveyed the buffet sections and when we went to the live chaat counter, we she was surprised to learn the way puris were fried for making chaats. The hotel believes in preparing everything in-house including the farsans and mithais, in a hygienic method. Over the mains of Fish cake and Lotus leaf steam rice, she tells me she wants to have a lasting marriage and not one laced with separation or divorce. “I would hate the children to suffer. “ They lived happily ever after…… that’s how she wishes her life story would go. Sana gives full credit to Colors Channel and Bigg Boss for the media exposure she gained. The one thing she regrets is her gullibility – “I end up trusting everyone and get backstabbed in the bargain,” cribs the innocent girl. Preferring Thai Green Chicken curry, I found some semblance of Sindhi in her choice as she is very fond of papads. “People say I must have definitely been a Sindhi in my pichle janam,” she jokes. Though she loves Caramel Custard, she skipped it for health reasons but tasted coconut dusted Chamcham. Loving the food at Saptami at Holiday Inn, she bid adieu to the caring and hospitable staff and was very happy she could be a part of this eating out session which she said, “is a very informal, unique and interesting experience.” On her way out, the lovely actor was surrounded by Holiday Inn’s in-house guests who requested for a picture to be taken with her. Patiently, she obliged them before driving away happily. Best wishes and may we see more of you in the silver screen Sana! Rapid Fire with Qs with Sanaa Khaan Foodie... Fave cuisine..... dessert….
