Silent comedies are back with a bang! As SAB TV launches the second season of not one but two silent comedy shows that will have its audience dumbfounded, literally. The Chaplinesque style is known for its silent comic brilliance and once again, bringing the same vividness of humour in India on the small screen will be shows like Gutur Gu Season 2 and Chintu Ban Gaya Gentleman. These shows are similar in approach to their precious seasons as they explore the genre of silent comedy but very different in concept and story line. While, Gutur Gu Season 2 continues to have Bhavna Balsavar in one of the pivotal roles, the story revolves around her family and their antics. Other leading protagonists include stalwarts in acting and comedy like Jay dutt Vyas, K.K Goswami, Bhairavi Raichura and Anita Hasnandani. Anita Hasnandani, who plays an off-beat bahu in the show Gutur Gu, says, “It’s challenging to convey a story through the medium of silent comedy and I truly believe the cast has done a brilliant job. The concept of Gutur Gu Season 2 remains the same as its previous season but we have tweaked storyline to add a refreshing new zing to the show. My character is of the girl who is married to Rahul. She has her own peculiarities that are what make her really unique.” Chintu Ban Gaya Gentleman on the other hand goes international and is all about Chintu, the lead protagonist, travelling to various countries from Switzerland, Italy, Singapore and win the hearts of the people he encounters with his innocent charm! Chintu’s story is a simple one with a pure heart and an undying love for Pinky, the most beautiful girl in the village. This shows journeys on with the two characters on their escapades to stunning lands abroad as they leave the village life behind and set out to explore the globe. Anjum Tadvi and Ashwini Kirnar will be seen goofing up while trying to adjust to the lifestyles of the new countries they visit each time. Mr. Anooj Kapoor, EVP and Business Head, SAB TV said, “This is the 2nd season of Gutur Gu and Chintu Ban Gaya Gentleman. Gutur Gu season 1 was listed in the Limca Book of records for being world’s longest running silent comedy. SAB was the first and only channel to successfully produce silent comedies in India. These shows, made like others on SAB, will attract family audience while offering, once again , a unique and clutter breaking product experience.” These shows air tonight (15 December 2012), Chintu Ban Gaya Gentleman at 8pm and Gutur Gu Season 2 at 8:30 p.m.
