A page from the personal diary of Sachin Sharma When I think of the last few years, I feel amazed by how much has happened in my professional life. It has almost been a decade that I have been in the television industry and I seem to have covered the entire journey from being in front of the camera to moving behind it! It seems just yesterday I started my career as a news anchor. After doing news shows for a while, I decided to venture into acting and got the offer for playing the role of Krishna in Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki. It was difficult and hard work, but I pulled it through. But Krishna became popular. Having established as an actor, I decided to move behind the camera and become a director. Thanks to everyone’s good wishes, I have got a good platform there as well. I am debuting as a director in an American talent hunt show, Model Professor. The show will be on air sometime later this year and I have directed the first season consisting of eight episodes. It is a typical reality show for aspiring actors. I will also be present as a celebrity guest. I wanted to have a good launch pad for direction and thus got in touch with the US-based producer of the show through my agent. After a few rounds of discussions, interviews and brainstorming sessions they selected me. So here I am in the US, directing my first show for television. I must admit I was nervous to make my debut in an international show. But then I told myself that most of the reality shows on Indian television today are borrowed from American originals so the experience cannot be so different. All I need to focus on is the cultural difference and focus accordingly. It was difficult initially, but I must say now I am much more confident than I was earlier. However, I feel sad when I think my Indian viewers won’t be able to see the show since it will be aired on an American channel called KTLA.
